English Language Arts 

Outcome: Ensure students are making sufficient progress to be on grade level in English Language Arts.

Goal: By the Spring of 2023, all Kindergarten students will reach a score of 82 (Benchmark) or higher on the PALS assessment.  By the Spring of 2023, all students in grades 1-2 will show growth on the DSA as defined by the Hybla Designed DSA growth chart*.  By the Spring of 2023, all students in grades 3-6 will attain proficiency or meet growth requirements on the spring 2023 Reading SOL assessment and/or make sufficient growth on the DSA as defined by the Hybla Designed DSA growth chart*.    

Strategy 1 All students will develop strong reading and writing skills through a structured literacy framework.

Strategy 2

All ESOL students in grades 2-6 outperformed the region and the district in WIDA VDOE growth. An area for growth for Hybla Valley as evidenced by WIDA data is writing at grades 1 and 2. We will increase the use of academic language across content areas using the four domains of listening, speaking, reading and writing with a focus on writing.

 

Mathematics 

Outcome: Ensure students are making sufficient progress to be on grade level in Mathematics.

Goal: The All Students 2023 Mathematics unadjusted SOL passing rate will improve by 10%.   

Strategy 1

Students will engage in open ended tasks and problem-solving opportunities in a Math Workshop Model.

 

Wellness 

Outcome: Ensure students feel safe, included, and supported in the school environment.

Goal: The number of students who are chronically absent from school for the 2022-2023 school year, will decrease by 10% or more.

Strategy 1

We will create a safe and secure learning environment that supports academic and social growth with equity at the center.

Strategy 2

We will create a before/after school wellness club program to further support the development of positive social and emotional skills in students.

 

Portrait of a Graduate (POG)

Outcome: All students will complete a POG Presentation of Learning (POL) by 2025-26. 

Goal: By June of 2023, all grade levels will have participated in inquiry based learning activities that incorporate student voice and increase student engagement.

Strategy 1

Teachers will design and facilitate inquiry based opportunities in science that elevate student voice and increase student engagement. (i.e. PBL, Get2Green, Global Classroom, STEAM, Performance Assessments, GATP, MYP Personal Projects…)

 

OTHER End of Year SMARTR Outcome

Goal: 70% or higher of 5th grade students will achieve proficiency on the 2023 Science SOL assessment.

Strategy 1 Teachers will engage students in inquiry based learning to develop communication and collaboration skills.
